Starting a task can be one of the hardest parts of getting things done with ADHD.
You may know exactly what needs to be done but still feel unable to take that first step.
This can happen when a task feels too big, boring, overwhelming, unclear or simply doesn’t feel urgent enough.
Instead of waiting to feel motivated, try making the task easier to start. Break it into one small step, add some stimulation such as music, change your environment, create some urgency, or ask someone to work alongside you.
The goal isn't to finish the whole task — it’s simply to make the first step easier.
