How Coaching Works
While every session is different, we shape our time around what you need right now.
"Most coaching uses a generic framework. This isn't that."
ADHD coaching is not about telling you to “try harder”, be more organised, or simply use another planner.
It’s about understanding why things that seem easy for other people can be genuinely difficult with ADHD — and finding ways to make them work for you.
In our sessions, we start with what is actually happening in your life. Maybe you know exactly what you need to do but can’t get started. Maybe you start with good intentions but lose momentum. Maybe everything feels urgent, you’re constantly playing catch-up, or the systems you’ve tried never seem to last. We work out what’s getting in the way, how ADHD is contributing, and what you can do differently.
Every session draws on that combination of lived experience, teaching, and coaching training. You get someone who genuinely understands how ADHD works. Someone who has experience working with people who have ADHD, someone who has experience helping and supporting people with ADHD. Not just someone who read about it or completed a course.
Your first session
Your first real session is a little different from the rest: it's mostly about understanding your situation — what's worked before, what hasn't, what you're hoping changes, and how ADHD actually shows up in your day-to-day. Unpacking the big picture is key to understanding. From there, sessions follow the rhythm below.
If you're not sure coaching is the right fit, start with a free call — no pressure, just a chat.

About your coach
ADHD coaching is provided by Alex Lawson, an experienced educator and ADHD coach based in Sutherland Shire. Alex combines lived experience of ADHD with almost a decade working with students, families and professionals as a high school teacher.
Between sessions
You'll usually leave with one or two concrete things to try, not a long list. If something doesn't work, that's useful information for next time, not a failure. No homework guilt; this isn't school.
How often, and for how long
Most clients start weekly or fortnightly. As things improve, sessions move to monthly or quarterly. There's no fixed program length; how long you stay in coaching depends on what's useful for you, and that can change over time.
Online or in person
Both work the same way; same structure, same 55 minutes. Some people prefer starting in person and shifting to online once they're comfortable, or vice versa.
Coaching Session --- $85 for 55 minutes (Face to Face) $65.00 for online.
Location --- In person at Sutherland or online
